Jupiter 27/06/2006 - WOY and WOZ merging afterall?

Hi all.

Here's one of the final images that is likely to come out of my ToUcam. The DMK is working, but no colour filters yet, so last night I took some monochrome DMK and some colour ToUcam. Here's the ToUcam effort.

Taken @ 5fps for 120s.

It looks like WOY and WOZ are merging afterall? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Comments welcome.

Thanks

They are very nice Mike,

Love that 3D effect.

Your 3 channels are very even for clarity. Even on my good nights the blue is nothing like the green and red channel. So I presume your seeing conditions were very steady.

Thanks guys

Lester, conditions were only average, but Jupiter was high in the sky. Some nights my blue channel is much worse than the others.

WOY and WOZ mean White Oval Y and White Oval Z. They've been approaching each other for the past month or two and were set to merge last week, but they stalled on their approach. It seems that they've finally started merging now.

You can see them on the NEB (the bottom brown belt) as the 1-2 white spots on the CM (right in the middle).

ah thanks for the link Guillaume. I received the email mailout but didn't realise it was also posted there.

Cheers!

I've been trying to catch those spots for weeks and was glad to finally be in the right spot at the right time.
