Wi-Fi to EQMOD/NEQ6

Hi Guys,
This is my first post here. I have found a lot of useful information on here that helped me out with various aspects - Stellarium Scope connection, Buletooth module circuit etc.

Having successfully built a Bluetooth module recently to control my EQ6 mount running EQMOD (Thanks to hikerbob (and alistairsam) on the BT Module Thread). I was thinking about a Wi-Fi version. I have an iPad running Sky Safari - it will not connect to the mount or laptop - obviously bluetooth problems on the iPad platform! I have a bit of trouble with wi-fi access in my observatory so the wi-fi scope application has the be ruled out - so, I was looking at the commercial Wi-Fi unit that is readily available but on the DIY scene, would a serial to wi-fi module not do the same job? In the documentation and trawling about so far, the wi-fi to serial modules would appear to work on a minimum of V in, ground, TX and RX - similar to the Bluetooth module setup. I am not an electronics expert but wonder if modules such as this would work:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/serial-ttl...item3ccf25d8f4

or this:

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Trevor

I was also going to look at another one, seem to be growing in popularity. The one I was looking is from Adafruit but they are not as friendly at delivery than the link you have shown.

My only concern will be the interface solutions on the remote PC.

Thanks for the link, although this was going to be a project once I had completed the rental observatory build, so will be a while before I can complete this now I am back at Uni.

OH< I am currently using a Bluetooth Version 2 that has 100m range so it may not be any different to using a WiFi module. My main objective is WiFi HID (Human Interface Device) for some of the more difficult aspects of imaging remotely.
