Hi Guys,
This is my first post here. I have found a lot of useful information on here that helped me out with various aspects - Stellarium Scope connection, Buletooth module circuit etc.
Having successfully built a Bluetooth module recently to control my EQ6 mount running EQMOD (Thanks to hikerbob (and alistairsam) on the BT Module Thread). I was thinking about a Wi-Fi version. I have an iPad running Sky Safari - it will not connect to the mount or laptop - obviously bluetooth problems on the iPad platform! I have a bit of trouble with wi-fi access in my observatory so the wi-fi scope application has the be ruled out - so, I was looking at the commercial Wi-Fi unit that is readily available but on the DIY scene, would a serial to wi-fi module not do the same job? In the documentation and trawling about so far, the wi-fi to serial modules would appear to work on a minimum of V in, ground, TX and RX - similar to the Bluetooth module setup. I am not an electronics expert but wonder if modules such as this would work:

or this:

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
