Some pics from back home.

These were taken by one of my aunties who's an avid mountaineer. She's in her 70s now but doesn't mind going for a stroll on week-ends and where I'm from nothing's flat so they do keep in shape.

I've attached a googlemap (north is up) that locates the area on the spanish border and I annoted the photos with cardinal point as best as I remember.

This is from the French side of the Pyrenees. You can see some cable tracks in #3 between the tree line. This is a sky track in winter.

#4, #5 & #8 show a pic called 'le Vignemale' which is part of a great curved wall called 'le cirque de Gavarnie'.

#6 is the 'Breche de Roland' at approx. 2800m altitude that has a bit of legend linked to it.

It's the end of Summer into Autumn there so not much snow yet but it'll be white again in a couple of month time.

Breathtaking scenery Marc, which brings back many memories of our great times in the French Alps.

We used to find that our backpacks began to get heavier around the 2600 metre mark and breathing patterns noticeably affected at around 3000 to 3500 metres depending on how fit we were.

How is global warming affecting the snow level in the region?

Cheers

Dennis

It is a nice part of the world. Great skies too
They had an unusual amount of snow past winter that lasted well into summer in altitude. Also very hot temperatures in summer.
