Our club went down to our dark sky site over the w/e at Berrima.
The sky was spectacular, mag 7 naked eye skies, weather about -4Degrees

but I was warm in my freezer suit
Between the seven of us, we viewed the Helix Nebula, great through a 12".
NGC 253, 247, 55, 300 all great spiral galaxies mostly edge on except NGC55.
The only frustration was trying to track down Shapley 1 a planetary nebula in Norma, oh well maybe this w/e.
Eta Carinae, Omega Centauri took on a new look, with the Homunculous looking like a Hubble image ( well almost

) Another interesting event was getting up at 6am after 3 hours sleep to find all of the scopes on the field covered in about 7mm of ice, the shroud on my LB was frozen solid like a piece of board. Ah the fun and games of astronomy
