Is it real? Surely there are no galaxies in front of the Nebula???

Or are these galaxies shining through the nebula???

The galaxies are in the background, and can be seen through the nebula

Amazingly some of these are in my helix HA image. Although they show up as nothing more than a faint star. This is quite amazing, thanks for posting Mike.

Yeh, I moved it to constant sub arc sec seeing in Chile and enlarged the mirror to 32"...worked a treat, kicking myself for not doing it earlier

As Manus said Ron here is their front page, it's a team using a Philip Keller 32" corrected Cassegrain at Cerro Tololo

Great stuff Mike - the move to Chile is sheer genius - and of course having an aperture of 32" at F7 means you're guiding at a FL of about 18 feet. Not bad for an EQ6.

Yeh I Sidoniod my Swan too, much better at 7000ft up in the Andes...wonder if that black magic tool Pix-Insight was used to process this

Seeing is everything then aperture helps!

I was checking out how many galaxies were in the region just last night.
It's amazing isn't it. Some show some nice detail too. If one had longer focal length you could be kept busy imaging for some time.

Pretty amazing image, huh!

I have a few of the brighter galaxies making a faint appearance in the Ha data I have been collecting, but I think you'd need broadband data to see them well. I'll find out when I get around to collecting some LRGB data too...

How the hell did you process the galaxies to bring them out of the nebulosity like that??

Just beautiful to look at.

Cheers,

Justin.
