My thought is if your comparing the photos the PGR wins hands down but if your comparing the cost of the cameras with the end result the ZWO wins,,,,,,,that's my thought.

That's exactly what I am getting at.
I know its a bit more work to take 12panes with the ZWO but it is 2K cheaper for a really magic result. Great fun as well once I learned how to do it. Not to hard really.
Only took 12 minutes to collect the data and not long to process either.
Mind you I am not giving my PGR 2.8, it has many other uses as well.

I looked and looked at those images and have to say that the ZWO is certainly punching very well above its weight. PGR by a nose but the ZWO takes only 1/3 of the frames of the PGR to make an image and cheaper overall.
Very interesting post

Interesting Ralph. I think it shows how people can look at images with a different focus. e.g. some pixel peep, others look at detail, other look at colour, other smoothness and dynamic range, the scale of the image, its noise, its framing, its subject. Shows there is a lot more going on in an image than just the camera. That said, you cannot deny the easE of capture with the PGR and the value proposition in the ZWO.

Well I just like taking nice pics of our star Ted
Does not matter too much to me about pixels and colours , dynamics and other stuff, as long as it looks good. I shall let all the experts worry about such things. Me I will keep on imaging.
Still must say again though, a nice result from the ZWO, a 300$ camera.
As you say the PGR is great for ease of use for full discs. (thats why I bought it)
