Heads up plastic battery/powerboard cases.

Found these at Duck Smuth. They are designed fo fit a powerboard and weatherproof, a must have for Star Parties to stop the inevitable RCD trips.

These cases cost just $20, they clip shut and are weathertight. They allso have decent seals around the generous cable entry/exit areas and a stainless bracket should you want to screw them to something..... PLUS... they have more than enough room to house one or more gel SLA's and plugpacks. See the image # 3 showing 2x7ah SLA's, there's still heaps of room for one or two powerboards, a charger and plugpacks. I'll be taking one to Astrofest instead of my usual powertank. At that price they should be mandatory at star parties.

But wait.... there's more, they also come with a generous area of sticky velcro in the bottom/back (#2) and a corresponding strip of sticky sided velcro (Ponders will not be able to resist )

I've got something similar for my Christmas Lights - survives well through summer storms.

Dang it.
I paid $39 for mine.
Oh well. It's still money well spent on something that will get a hell of a lot of use.

Confused how they work. So you have your electrical + batteries inside and just have cables in and out through port holes?

I can also report that this case will also double as a transport case for 4 x counterweights that fit the Az-eq6 even allowing for some thin padding to protect the paint on the weights. Not sure how that equates to the EQ8 or regular EQ6 counterweights.

As Geoff pointed out there is a soft rubberised cable exit area with formed openings at one end.

I don't see how the batteries are prevented from moving around inside the case.

It's not a battery box, it's a housing for electrical stuff outside, e.g. for powerboards plugpacks etc, there just happens to be enough room for batteries if the need arises.

Ooo! Oooo! Thanks Phil. I redid all my supplies, USB, focus stuff, etc, etc into a large lunchbox recently, but one of these would be perfect for the pier or in the field. Must check them out.....
