Was just out under the most incredible winter night QLD has seen in a LONG time... Always the way - weeks of cloud and rain clears to a perfect night...with full moon.
Witnessed one of the better meteors I have ever seen. Travelling almost exactly north-south, with a VERY obvious shockwave glow at the front, with LONG and fairly persistent tail.
Yep, those bright fireballs are always spectacular sight to see A shame that now run my kit from inside the house/tent, I don't get to see anywhere near as many as I did sitting under the stars all night.
The decent weather was a pleasant surprise too... 9 hours of good H-a data while I slept

I have seen all manner of entry events, from a simply incredible meteor shower up at Bagara (easily 50 plus per minute!), to bolides (red, potassium purple, white, and even fragmentary) and points, but NEVER have I witnessed a smoker or boomer. ONE day
I did do a bit of visual with my new friend - the Megrez 72, coupled with the magnificent Vixen LV20 EP. Seeing here was not too bad - a little shimmer, but not that bad, and Saturn had some banding visible. The moon was glorious, and I am not a lunar freak (maybe a lunatic instead), but the joy for me was the ability to see large magnitude stars even under the full moon thanks to the scope/EP setup. REALLY impressed with its performance.
A shame that now run my kit from inside the house/tent, I don't get to see anywhere near as many as I did sitting under the stars all night.
