Barnard Dark Nebula [B50]

Here's another one from that week-end. B50, one of barnard dark nebulae in Scorpius. Only got an hour of this. Clouds rolled in Saturday night around 12:00am so went to bed and it cleared obviously shortly after.

Still some pretty cool colours. There's a big one here (HD).
Funny story actually. I intended imaging IC4628 and them bumped my head in the DEC dovetail in the dark so moved a couple of degrees smack bang framed B50. Of course I had to platesolve to see where I was but hey... Voila! B50 for you.

You can see it here in a wider context at 2 o'clock. That's what I call bump imaging. And that's the only shot from the week-end where I have no noticeable tilt in the field. Should head butt the G11 more often.

Nice Marc, so many tiny stars and I like the way you handled the dark dust.

Thanks mate. Didn't take much to get the dust out. Skies were as dark as they get.

Excellent work Marc. Its not easy to portray the golden hues of the milky way. You've really brought out the area. The target focus is a little dull and uninteresting but hey, not all targets can be 'pin-ups'. The scene feels real and not over worked. Well done.

Thanks Jase. It is a little blend you're right. Not much colour around unlike areas such as the butterfly cluster where you get lovely mix of red and gold. Even that big star in the middle is really pale. Not really blue.

Great looking photo of something different Marc.

Your pointing system is up there alongside your unique polar alignment system!

Ross.

Beautiful shot Marc, and nice to see something different. Maybe we should all bump our mounts now and then
