[SOLD] Mono KAF6303E CCD Quantix camera with shutter

I am very very reluctantly selling the Monochrome KAF6303E Quantix cooled CCD camera.
This is the same sensor that is in the $8000 FLI camera, except the quantix has better cooling, and water cooling can be used if you are hard core (http://www.optcorp.com/fli-ml6303e-m...m-shutter.html)

Unlike other Quantix cameras, this one is setup with a shutter and ready to use. Come with Power Supply and all cables, works well with Maxim-DL. Requires a PC with a PCI slot, I have been using it with a tiny Intel-Atom PC and it works beautifully.

A great chance to own a camera that with the same sensor as a $6000+ camera and performs better!

do you have some shots with it and some details on how to set it up? what adapters are needed for hookup to the scope, is it a camera more for a SCT design or a refractor? Dumb question but had to ask? did you use it with a filter wheel?

As for setting it up, it is a matter of plugging in the PCI card, installing the driver, plugging in the power and interface cable and running Maxim DL.
It is pretty standard after that.

I have had this on the C9.25 and a Lomo 4" triplet. Nice large sensor. I did use it only once with a filter wheel and there were no probs. It is setup to just use single filters from memory if you don't have a wheel.

It is threaded on the front, I'll have to take a look and see what the thread is, but it is pretty standard, no funky adapters required.

This unit was actually Brett's camera (Bert) as I swapped my Quantix for his a little while ago (due to Brett not needing one with a Shutter) so he has used this particular one more than I have.

The cooling is amazing and the large sensor is lovely, especially for narrowband work from the suburbs. I'd keep it if I didn't have too many kids

The front thread is an sct thread. I used it with a fli filter wheel and the camera has the same thread as the input of the fli wheel.

Interested in the camera, can you advise which model is it F mount or C mount and when you say water cooled as an option is it the water cooled camera only needing the additional pump/heat exchange system or is the air cooled version. ?

I have the original nosepiece if you wanted to go back to that, but it has been replaced with a shutter and housing that has a standard SCT thread on it.

It is fully setup for water cooling, and has the pipe attachments on the back, so yes just need to add a pump etc. There is hardly a need though, the air cooling is better than any of the astro cameras out there. These were over 20 grand when new, so the build quality is exquisite.
