Here is my first LRGB acquisition attempt.
NGC 4755
L:4 x 300
R:4 x 450 bin 2x2
G:4 x 225 bin 2x2
B:4 x 450 bin 2x2
RCOS 12.5" @f6.2
Sbig 2000 mono + astrodon filters
Paramount me mount
Image aquired and calibrated with MaxIm, Aligned (centroid), combined in CCDsoft, resized and some p/proc in PS CS2.
These image components were acquired remotely from Southern Astro.
Comments welcome, criticisms just barely tolerated
Cheers,
Doug
Nice image, I think theeres a hint of field rotation in lower right, though that can be fixed by rotating the images as thet are aligned. Iris has a function where it picks 3 spots around the edges of the image to align, I know IP can do it and theres probably a function for that in CCD soft though Im not familiar with that software.
Id like to see what that rig can do on emission nebulae and planetary nebulas.

That looks great, nice round stars, beaut diffraction spikes, only critter I got is the background could be a little darker.
Thanks for your comments andrew. I intended to leave a bit of room on the histogram for people to play with if they wanted to. But in looking again I agree with you..........I'm just too generous. I'll repost an emended version after I have addressed another serious issue (or given up in disgust).

Thanks Scott.
I had not noticed, but you are correct I'd say.
Iris, I had a bit of a lookisee, it appears to we written by aliens; Klingons maybe? generiric in, generic out, pic not fit what linguo is that
CCDsoft seems not to allow multi point aligning and I have no use for IP.
AstroArt has a 2 star align routine that seems to work, but at the moment I only have the demo version and that won't save and only works on image sizes 800 pixels or less. But I'm a stabborn person; I'll get it aligned somehow.
I thought the equipment specs looked identical to Brad Moore's set up.
Very intersting doing this remotely.
G'day Tony,
Yep it is Brad moores equip. He is a great guy to work with.
Remote is comfortable, but it lacks the personal involvement that we get by being at the scope nursing things along with frozen hands and frostbitten toes
cheers,
Doug
