Best DSO's to photograph this time of year.

Just wondering which are the best DSO's to photograph in Australia during this time of year and in a suburban setting, so moderate light pollution (at best!). Thanks in advance

This is the best time of the year for globular clusters (if you like them - I do); even if they do get a bit similar.
Some of the best in this area are M4, M10, M22, M55, NGC6397 & NGC6752.
There are many others.
There are dozens of them in Ophiuchus, Scorpio and Sagittarius.
A good website for searching for DSOs is www.Messier45.com
You can search by constellation, object type, magnitude, size etc. and it will show you an image of the object. Also worldwide telescope is good.

Regards,
Tony.

Lots of great planetaries about now, too. Bug Nebula, Saturn Nebula, NGC 6852, NGC 6563, NGC 6072. Those are all small objects (almost all planetaries are) so you'll want to lose the focal reducer. But your setup should do a good job with those.

Later on in the evening but coming into view earlier over the next month or so are the two large showpieces from the planetary nebula catalogue: the Helix nebula (NGC 7923) and the Dumbell Nebula (M27). Use the focal reducer for these, especially the Helix.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions I'm on school holidays now so, if the weather stays nice I should have some fun getting out and taking some photos during the week, hopefully I'll be able to post my results! Thanks again
