Talking SpacefestVI 2014

The date and location of SpacefestVI was announced today.
It will be held at the Pasadena Civic Center (Convention Center) ,California. May 8-11 2014
Accommodation deals have been worked out with 3 motels.
The closest being The Westin, a short 9 minute walk away. $99 a night, free wifi and shuttle bus.
Being located close to JPL, Griffith Obs and Mt Wilson Obs I'm sure there will be excursions to go on. Also the California Science Centre with the Endeavour. La Brea Tar Pits, Hollywood etc etc etc

After attending this years SpacefestV, I can honestly say, if you are into Space and Astronomy, you won't ever regret going.

I'm budgeting hard so I can go Mike.
I had so many surreal moments. eg. someone comes up for a chat, you natter away for ages about everything and nothing, then they give you their business card, "Marc Rayman, Chief Engineer/Mission Director of the Dawn Mission", or, you go for morning coffee, sit next to this old guy, he says Hi I'm Fred Haise, Apollo 13, or sitting down to dinner and talking about the pro's and con's of The Beatles "Let It Be Naked" album with Carolyn Porco.
And it's not just us regular folk who are star struck. To see Bwian meet the Astronauts for the first time, he was like a little boy, big cheesy grins.
And the Apollo Astronauts.... what wonderful gentleman they are.

How can one NOT go back???

Loved SF V, however I am keen to do NZ (photography tour) in 2014, and eclipse in 2015 so SF Vl may be a push. Cheers Petra d.

Petra, I had exactly the same thoughts. re. NZ
For the price of the air fare to SF one could hire a camper van and tour NZ for a couple of weeks.

Chris, SFVI is being held right next to Hollywood!! There's plenty for the other halves to do while you're going to the talks.

David's BIG birthday is next year - so his dream is to do a overnight cruise on Milford Sound, so a tour of NZ is now in development. Im also thinking its a good opportunity to concentrate on skilling up in photography (as I still cut of heads ). So we are starting to book and plan.
