The Running Chicken Nebula Hubble Palette

I took this one last month in some great seeing. AP 140/Proline.
I have some LRGB of this as well I'll post another version with LRGB stars.

http://www.pbase.com/gregbradley/image/150457992/large regular

http://www.pbase.com/gregbradley/ima...57992/original large

http://upload.pbase.com/gregbradley/...50965740/large crop version

I quite like the crop version as all the structure is quite visible.

Greg.

Lovely, Greg! I reckon it looks more like a snail's head than a chicken There's something a little strange happening at the very top of the image. The first few rows are doubled?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Ross. I'll be processing the LRGB stars version shortly.

Thanks Larry. I was very happy with it. The seeing was particularly good and the AP140 seemed to shine in sharpness.

Thanks Rick. Thanks for picking that artifact up. I don't see it in the original. Perhaps the upload got interrupted and it distorted or something. Odd. Anyway, fixed now.

Greg.

Thanks David. Yes I am partial to that palette as well. It takes a while to get a formula going for this sort of imaging.

Cheers for that. I think it was really good seeing that night. Plus I've got my PMX mount humming beautifully. Its some of the best tracking I've achieved with a mount.

Superb work Greg!
I think it's the best chicken I've seen, something about the colour palette that really makes it stand out.

Cheers,

Justin.

Greg...the only comment I'd make is shadow and highlights...and I'm being picky... but suspect you'd prefer "full and frank" comments.

...the image looks decidedly "flat" to me and lacks dynamic range.

Yet, so much you have absolutely nailed
(AP make such cool 'scopes )

Nice one

Gee thanks Justin. It did turn out better than I expected. The great seeing had something to do with that as well.

Yes the FOV of that setup suits a lot of common objects.

Thanks Peter. Are you referring to the darks being quite dark?
