I Reprocessed the old Eta Carinae data to bring out more detail in the Keyhole. The image is not very sharp and detailed it really shows the limitations of the alt/az with No guiding setup.
360 x 25sec subs at iso 1600, darks and bias (150mins data)
12' LX200 (alt/az setup, no guiding)
Sony Nex-3 DSLR
Stacked in DSS
Processed in GIMP
It's still a nice image Wayne. I wouldn't rule out focus as a contributor. I think your alt/az images are pretty damn good. The Nex does a great job. GIMP has a luminosity sharpen tool that does a nice job on the edges without increasing noise. I think it's in FX-Foundary
very inspirational I have only ever done like 150 subs with my Alt-Azi LX90 and I was wondering if it's woth getting more data than that, these images have given me the inspiration to go for more data next time I get a clear night.
