Astronomical focussing difficulty

Recently I bought a canon 1100D. It takes beautiful terrestrial photos.
However, when I tried to use it last night (our first night with no cloud or even no pouring rain in the last 2 weeks) I could not get it to focus on Scorpio. It seems that the focussing system is not geared to astronomical photography. Could someone here point me to what I need to do to convince the 1100D to focus for astronomy?

Regards

Glad you were able to sort it out. Sometimes the simplest things can be overlooked and it's not until it's written down when the answer becomes obvious.

Look forward to seeing some images from you.
