Gosse Bluff and Henbury Meteorite Craters

Hi,

On our eclipse trip to the Northern Territory we took side trips to Gosse Bluff and Henbury Meteorite craters.

Higher resolution images available here

Also here is a 3D flyover of Gosse Bluff.

If you get a chance well worth the visit.

Must have been a doozie of a rock to cause Gosse's Bluff! On Google Earth, you can still see the crater rim remanats - extend out apparently 22 KM or so! (the remaining uplift centre is only 5km across)

No rock, more like a comet or ice ball, the uplift was caused by a compression rebound.
No meteorites have been found from the crater.
Cheers
