Downloading movies to an Ipad

Hi guys, I have a question for the more experienced than myself on downloading free movies to an Ipad.

Alice has an Ipad and sometimes fly's home from Darwin to see the kids and grand kids, and she said to me it would be good to play a movie while sitting for 4 hours in a plane.

So could someone please suggest the procedure in layman's terms, as I don't have an Ipad and wouldn't know where to start.

Many thanks in advance.

Leon

Are you as Mac user? Anyway, grab HANDBRAKE to convert movies to an Ipad compatible .mp4 etc.

Yopu can download movies from iTunes or go to the library and 'borrow' the movie and rip it to HDD using Handbrake. More options out there but likely not required for now. Just grab Handbrake and VLC and you are set to go. VLC is a video player that plays about any video file you can think of. Handbrake needs VLC to be installed if you want to copy some movies from a DVD.

I use AVPlayerHD as you can play most file types (AVI, XVID, mp4 etc..) not just the iTunes movies. To load files into it, when the ipad is hooked up open the ipad apps pane in iTunes, scroll down to file sharing and highlight AVPlayerHD then drag'n'drop your movies into the file box on the left. Sync then you're done. AVPlayerHD isn't free but is very flexible with regards to movie file types and I've had no stability issues.

Other players may load files in a similar way.

I use cineXplayer HD, it plays most formats. You add movies to it via iTunes in the application section locate the app then drag and drop the movies into it. It's very easy to do.
