Heads up - bargain in Brisbane

Browsing Gumtree tonight, looking for a cheap alt-az and saw this.

Not sure what condition it's in, but $750 for a 16 inch lightbridge seems a good deal for someone in Brisbane looking for a big dob.

Buyer beware......on Gumtree.

Anyone considering this should go to the "owner's place" & make sure it's genuine.

Always a bit suspicious of ads using images from other sites instead of actually item for sale.

Sensible caution is required!!

It's real

For what is worth, I went and had a look at the scope.

It is real and is the price nominated. He is also selling a lens kit with collimator and laser pointer for extra $.

The only reason I did not buy it there and then, is that the mirror has a few marks on it that I am uncertain about (there are two small black areas which are obvious what they are). The ones I was nervous about, are like a corrosion rather than a specific mark. I therefore made the decision I would rather buy one with a mirror in better condition.

It is a bargain for someone less demanding than myself and he still has the original packaging and manual.

He told me that the unit was only 2 and a half years old. I do not believe this.

Good luck to the future purchaser.

Regards

Scott

Thanks for checking it out Scott and reporting back. I had today off and was tempted a couple of times to give them a call, but my wife WOULD kill me if I came home with another scope...
