Last nights efforts

Hi All

Well after a lot of cloudy weather on my breaks i finally had a clear night so decided to make good use of it

All taken with a unmodded 60d through a WO Megrez 72mm on a guided NEQ6pro

m16: 11x3min + 1x4min exposures @ iso400
m8/m20: 12x3min @ iso400
Eta Carina Nebula: 11x3min @ iso400

I did some post processing in PixInsight mainly just saturation, noise reduction with some wavelet treatment to m16 to bring out some fine detail

Now is it wrong that this is my 3rd attempt and i now want to really upgrade to the scope to a 10" RC

Only thing wrong with Upgrades is the introduction of clouds, so wait till the clouds come 1st doesnt bother me anyway, im over here in Eastern land
Any reason why your shooting at ISO400, I think the 60DA can handle 800 very well, , ?

Hi bob

Sorry for the late reply i have been on a site with no/really bad internet.

I have been reading Digital SLR Astrophotography by Michael Covington in which he recommends starting at iso400 and seeing where it goes from there. The only problem is that night i didn't have a way to view the histograms to check what was happening behind the scenes so stuck with iso400 to be on the safe side. Looking at them when i got back i probably should have upped the iso to 800 as some were slightly under exposed.

cheers
Paul
