The Mineral Moon

Hi,

Inspired by Mike's photos and instruction how to take and process the colour Moon.

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/63-656-0-0-1-0.html

I took about 100 frames with Nikon D200, aligned, and stacked with PI, colour saturation and curves with PS.

Thanks for looking.

David

Brilliant image!

I reckon you could raise the black point even more to give it a black background and more contrast.

Thanks Mike,

It's strange on my Mac it looks completely black background, my Windows at work it is not. Is there a way of adjusting Mac screen?

Nice work. I have one of these myself, following Mike's article. I'd love to see some close-ups of areas of the moon that use this technique to bring out colour contrast.

Thank Jon and Mike's instruction. I have tried the 4x Televue barlow lens, but for some reason I couldn't get a sharp images, may try again later.

Probably best bet is to take some AVIs and stack them with Registax or similar, then crank up the saturation as per Mike's article.

I've tried stacking with Registax, both with v5 and v6, they often crashed halfway through, probably I used RAW and 100 files. May try again when full moon.
Thanks

http://www.macworld.com/article/1151...urmonitor.html it is a little different under lion, but close enough to follow the procedure.
I'd invest in a colormunki and do it properly though.

Also give autostakkert a try as well if registax gives issues.
