Here's a shot of Comet Pan-STARRS taken from the 10,000ft summit of the Haleakala volcano in Maui ten days ago, using a Canon EOS 600D and 50mm lens. Not visible to the naked eye, 4 degrees above the northern horizon, I completey stuffed up getting a better shot with more zoom.
Also, taken earlier just after sunset, is a shot of the Pan-STARRS observatory not 200m away, where the comet was discovered.
Thanks Rod pretty cool but cold. I had planned to take some more shots but my poor wife was suffering a bit from the altitude so the mission was cut short! That night there were so higher thin cloud but still a pretty good view. The cloud you see in the comet attempt is lit from the lights on Maui.
