spsp wide field

night one; antaries, after setting up the sky was great, lucked out with the alignment simple compass and smart phone level and bingo five minute unguided subs 9x298sec pentax A 200mm @ f4 (wideopen) iso1250
night two; tried to teach myself to drift align after several hour subs have gone from 5 to 2 minutes i suck at drift aligning!!!so 10x 117 sec pentax 28mm @ f4 iso1000 for one shot and iso 1250 the other
night three; a lesson on drift aligning from dennis zambelis, thanks dennis.......then out of the darkness appears mike sidonio five minute demo with the pole scope and i am getting 15min+ on eta carina with no noticeable drift!!! thanks mike. Then you know what happens.............clouds. But i am wrapped with the stuff i have and have a couple yet to process, now i need to learn how to improve that, maybe control those blue/white stars better ;-)
regards brad

Nice work, Brad. I love that area of the Milky Way - it's so rewarding when shooting with a DSLR!

Great looking photos Brad.

The blue/purple stars are due to Chromatic Abberation in the camera lenses. I get it a lot also when I use SLR lenses.

Greg Bradley sent me a great solution using Photoshop. If you like, I can send it to you.

Ross.

Thanks all of you, i appreciate your gracious comments, yep mike is a legend, but i really admire his willingness to share his knowledge thx again mike i have been out most nights since the lesson, and with bino,s and i recon i can now find octans reliably so that has been a big boost
ross; i would love to see the solution to the star problem, anything greg has to say on the matter is worth checking out and any help to lessen the steep learning curve is a bonus

No legend, just love to have everyone able to polar align in minutes rather than hours

So do you remember where the SCP is in relation to Sigma though..?

I think so, i should be able to get it pretty darn close i will have to wait until time and weather permit a test run at home. after that a few minor adjustments to the set up and i should be able to start getting some decent data to begin learning the black art of processing
