8 Burst Planetary - NGC3132 - 6th Feb 2013

Hi all,

I was trolling though my files and found some data from February which I hadn't processed. Only 50 minutes of subs and I was a bit rusty in the processing so I went softly trying to remove some noise and skyglow.

So here it is, the 8 burst planetary nebula in Vela, 10 subs of 5 minutes each, darks and bias files applied, taken with the Atik 314L+ on the 8" Skywatcher newtonian. Stacked in DSS and processed in Photoshop CS3.

Uncompressed image here
Cheers

Chris

Lol, thanks Lewis,

Yep, there are some nice ones up there, good to get in there with this sexy camera.....

Give it a burl, the SX is chipped with the same Sony sensors as the Atiks.

Cheers

Chris

The nebula looks great Chris, but something happened to the stars, many of then look dark grey?

Nice catch Chris. Beautiful colors and details. Not an easy target.

Excellent Chris! Good to see some 'space' around such a target. In my opinion, the true colour palette tends to suit this target more than the Hubble palette. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers Rod, the colours come out well on the camera, one reason I like doing nebulae with it.

I think this may be caused by some stretching in DSS Rolf, it brings out a lot of the colours in the stars, but it also gives off some funky colours sometimes. I am working on trying some different settings as I go.

Hey Bob,

Yep, some of them are miniscule but most have some pretty cool features and textures.

I am glad you enjoyed this one

Cheers
