Reprocessed Twin Comet 73P/Schw-Wach 3 image

I had another go at processing the Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 image I took last week.
Took more care this time and wasn't in such a hurry.
The image needed more exposure time but I was beaten by the fast approaching morning twilight.

Oh well...

Thanks guys,

Paul I used the 20Da with a Canon 200mm f/2.8 piggybacked on the EM200 mount.
Total exposure was approx 21 minutes @ 1600 ISO (17 sub frames) stacked using Registar with Levels and Curves in Photoshop.

Like I said I wish I had more exposure but I ran out of time.
Hopefully next time huh?
Yeah Right....

I showed the image to Don at Bintel and he said I must have bumped the mount to get the double comet effect......

Yes according to SN they are at approx mag 8 in the East, North East rising after 2am.
Best time to see them is after 3am.

Ahhhh... that explains it then. My 5X4 min @ISO800 shots taken on the 300 D (unmodded but with the hack) with the ol' 28-90 zoom just doesn't quite look like those. I did try a couple at ISO3200 but I couldn't tell the comets from the snow

As I mentioned previously...this shot is amazing.
One you will keep for a life time.
Most comet shots I have searched for over the net don't come anywhere near your's.

Cracker shot Andrew, I should know. I tried this morning in a four degree frost, and didn't come close. Man they have changed since yours was taken.
