Trifid

Here's a capture of the Trifid Nebuila I made on Saturday night. Only minimal time spent processing so there's much more I can get from this data. Slightly eggy stars (f/10 without an OAG ... sigh) but there are things I quiet like about it.

14 x 5 min plus 2 x 8 min ISO 1600, Canon 60Da, 10" SCT f/10 2540mm fl at prime focus without a focal reducer, on the Losmandy G11, guided with an Orion SSAG, 80mm short scope and PhD.

Hi Jon,

Very nice imgage. Great colours.
Your stars are not too eggy shaped esp. at that FL. They do have rings around them thou. Should be able to process them out, somehow.
Ditto what Pat said about the guidescope.

Cheers

The rings are because I tried to shrink them a little using the minimum filter. Didn't really work; in fact I've never managed to get that technique working successfully. I'll reprocess and repost.

I should sy that my guidescope is piggybacked with a DIY wooden rail to the main scope. It wobbles even if I walk within 6 ft of the scope, let alone a breath of wind. "Flexure" isn't the F-word that first comes to mind ...
