PC Issues, need some ideas

Hi guys,

Having some PC issues with my main PC that was going to be used for processing etc... but it has a little problem that came up the other week.

It is Running Win7 32bit. atm... When starting up it gets to where I enter my password to log onto the computer, so I enter my password. The familiar Welcome comes up with the circle going around, but then the screen flickers quickly and the circle stops moving and the whole computer becomes unresponsive. On reset I can get into safe mode no worries.. This has actually happened twice now. The first time I tried going back to an older configuration, no luck, re-installed windows, which did work but it then ran an update and now it has happened again... Does anyone know what may be causing this issue? I have scanned for virus etc.. with no luck there either.

This is really annoying.....

Can you get into the BIOS and run diagnostics ?
I run DELLs and use F12 to get to the inbuilt menu with diagnostics option. If you have a PC from another manu google how to get into BIOS and find the diag option. May find you have a HD playing up or something.
