Video: Up Close with a Solar Eclipse

I first uploaded this video to Vimeo in December, so some may have seen the original version already.

But after decreasing the levels a bit in Lightroom (and ramping them through the sequence with LR Timelapse), and then putting the sequence through Neat Video inter-frame noise reduction in After Effects, and then the Topaz DeNoise plug-in for Photoshop, I now have a *much* cleaner version of this video. Topaz was especially useful for reducing the horizontal and vertical banding I got from stretching the shadows of the low ISO images.

Check it out on Vimeo, or even better on SmugMug where you can see my whole album of eclipse images which I'm pretty happy with.

The attached images show the image sequences as captured around 2nd and 3rd contact that were used to build up the video. There are ten frames interpolated in the video (using After Effects Timewarp) for each image frame captured during the eclipse.

Enjoy!

Phil

Just beautiful to watch, Phil - a great result. I love the nested images on the stills too. Very artistic.

Glad you like the music.. I like the fit as well. I kind of imagine ancient cultures making their loud music to scare away the moon, but also mixed with some darker/fearful tones.

Thanks Mike. A lot of planning, and a good dose of luck in this case too!
