NGC6164 & NGC6188 in RGB and NB with StarTools

All about 10MB

RGB

NB+RGB

NB 'natural' colour

NB SNO

NB SNO in Hubble Palette

Using StarTools I just auto stretched each NB or RGB fit then auto contrast and finally wavelet noise reduction. No further manipulation of any image parameters apart from the Hubble palette image and that was only colour.

Just used ImagesPlus to put the fits into the relevant RGB channels of the resultant tifs. Then converted to jpgs.

POW! The colours presented is like being in a candy store, each version having its own unique flavour. My only problem is that the flavours don't converge to present a single image that is a real treat. I adore that intense nebulosity presented in the NB 'natural' colour image but stars appear slightly lifeless. While they pop, they don't carry enough colour which is common with such a palette. If this was merged/layered with RGB to bring the stars back to life, we'd have a winner. The RGB perhaps needs some tweaks to balance channels but nothing major - more blue. This is fantastic work Bert. FOV is just grand for this area. So much to see. Well done. More please.

Top shelf work, Bert! The NGC6164-6188 image is fantastic. The stars have come back to life with the golden star clouds glistening. The individual O, B and A type stars are also present and you've maintained the rich nebulosity very well. In my opinion, this is one of your best pieces of work. If there was a single activity to possibility taking the image further, I would say reduce the star sizes to subtly accentuate the nebulosity but this is really a minor point and a matter of personal taste.

Great photos Bert, especially the "natural" RGB versions.
