Cat's Paw Nebula or NGC 6334.

Hi.

This image of the cat's paw has been a tuffy to process!
I wanted to achieve a balance between the back ground dust and the nebula.
I've been playing around for hours and this is the best so far.

Equipment.

8" Newtonian astrograph f/4. on Heq pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.

Unmodded canon 1100D, baader coma corrector, cooler box.

19 x 8 minute subs, darks and flat frames applied.

Median stack in DSS, processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice one Justin - lots of extended red nebulosity, amazing for an unmodded DSLR!

the 8 min subs looked to pick up a great deal of faint background dust well done. I like the vivid Neb colour

Thanks David!

Had to do a lot of work to bring out the red in photo shop.

Thanks Steve!

8 minute subs seems to be about it for my set up, no gain with longer exposures.

Cheers,

Justin.

Very nice capture Justin, especially with an unmodded DSLR.

Thanks Ross!

Although a few problems the stars, I'm pleased how much nebulosity I was able to capture and process the image without losing it.

Cheers,

Justin.

I guess that's the up side to DSLR imaging, don't have to worry about RGB filters.

Cheers,

Justin.
