Exclamation Website Revamp

Hi all

Take the time to check out the homepage of IceInSpace, www.iceinspace.com.au to see the changes that I've made today.

The homepage was previously a long list of news items, which meant long page load times and didn't really serve any useful purpose.

I've redesigned it so now the homepage is more of a portal - displaying the latest 2 news items, with links to the older news items, a list of feature articles, integration with the forum and of course Image of the Week.

It's designed for 1024x768 resolution, so if your display is less than that, you'll get horizontal scrollbars sorry. You should think about changing your display resolution - if you don't know how to do this, let me know.

The Event Calendar is not completely launched yet, as there's a minor problem that needs fixing up first. The calendar itself is working (Event Calendar), but the mini calendar in the left hand column is commented out for now. More on that soon.

Of course you'll also see the IIS1K Competition is now announced as well, so be sure to check out the competition page for details and rules.

I'd appreciate any feedback you have, so please feel free to post your thoughts here or contact me directly.

Thanks

Looks great Mike!

One suggestion. Could the Image of the week link to a larger version? I understand there is a link to the thread underneath but in this case the thread links to a 3MB version, which is too big for a lot of people.

Great work Mike - looks really neat, tidy and is very readable.

I guess you may not get too many compliments as we sometimes just take things for granted as you roll them out. But then again, remember, if we aren't complaining, it actually means you guys are doing a terrific job!

Cheers

Dennis

yeh I thought of that too, it'd be nice to see the larger version. In this case though, I'd have to go and resize it to 800px or so myself because he didn't post a "normal" size version as an attachment - i'm trying to avoid that.

Thanks Dennis, it is nice to receive the feedback because it doesn't come often. But as you say, if there's no complaints, then that's just as good!
