American Gun Laws

Im not sure if anyone has seen this before, its scary and funny at the same time, its one of those videos that makes you think for hours after watching it.

The guy in this clip makes me really ponder about the mentality about guns in the US.

That is funny, and disturbing at the same time.

I regularly watch The Daily Show and the Colbert Report, so see quite a few things like that.

I saw another PC comment tonight. A video of a young woman demonstrating a rifle explained that her 5 yr old nephew harvested his first deer with one.

Scary stuff, who really would want to live in the wild west. Some things never change. The national rifle association I think it is, really is law over there in my opinion. Easy fix, since they want to fire guns, send them to Afghanistan where people shoot back, that might sort them out.

I just hope I don't get shot whilst in the US for six weeks. I have to admit that it is the one thing that scares the crap out of me. But then again, I am more likely to die in a road accident there. It doesn't stop me from going though.

He does make 1 very good point, if you want a gun to go spree killing there not that hard to get off from that friend of a friend.

I will say control is needed though its to far overboard here and for sport and hunting its bs, though the lifes its saved is great. If only victorian police would stop shooting people now hahaha Though i'am betting these new PSO's kill more then they save, police drop outs with serve psych problems armed to the teeth on public transport lmao i can see the ciggerate packet warnings smoking has the same likely hood of killing you as being shot on a melbourne train by a PSO, hell i think i would quit if i read that hahah.

You make a good point Marki

Greenies don't tend to kill people, people who talk about killing greenies do though, hence we need gun control.

I know who I would rather have more of

Oh dear, here we go.

There are ignoramouses and extremists on both sides of the debate and rational argument is impossible with either. This interviewee is always going to be for selling guns on lemonade stands. Arguing with him is just being done for our viewing pleasure. Real debate on the topic is difficult and polarising because it can be, and is often deliberately made to be, so emotive.

It's also important for us Aussies to realise that our culture and psyche is not the same as an American's. Our history is different, our world view is different and even our basic concepts of liberty are different IMO. We Aussies shouldn't overlay our cultural beliefs / norms on them - that would be to deny them the freedom they (and we) cherish so much. We are not better than them nor they us. We're just different.

Cheers, Marcus

No we're not. We are all humans with a conscious who should know better than to kill other humans, and be able to live a peaceful existance without needing to be armed and afraid of being shot in the back.

I would luv to have a simple little slug gun so i could "selectively" kill off Indian Mynahs in my back yard, and hence protect the envirnment.
I'm sure multi shot rifles could also help in the "selective" killing of wild dogs/cats etc ( esp if yr aim isnt too good :-) ).
The fact that some nutters usage of them has resulted in pretty much blanket bans seems illogical to me, when death by motor vehicle, tobacco, alcohol etc still wipes out more people than guns ever did.
I guess its like anything. If there is no real revenue loss to the Govt, they will ban things, but not if it involves loss of money.
That said, I fully agree assault rifles etc should be banned.

Andrew

It has nothing to do with Greenies or those annoying Indian Mynahs

There are controls on the use of Alcohol, driving, driving and alcohol and tobacco use and deaths from each have dropped significantly as a result, even more may well be worth it too and this is all the US is finally trying to do ie add controls to the access and use of some fire arms by some people in order to start the ball rolling to reduce the alarming gun death toll...I mean, is it reeeeally that hard for some people to grasp
