Eta Carinae Nebula

My first post of a shot I took last night before the clouds chased me away.

Some work to be done on it, focus is not spot-on (need a mask for that) and I don't entirely understand post stacked processing yet so this could be a lot better because when I fiddled in MaximDL last night with filters and processing I got so many variants I picked the first group and went to bed

Equipment:
  • William Optics GT-81 triplet (Fsomething because I used a focal reducer and forget now what that takes it down to) on Paramount MX mount
  • OSSAG
  • QHY8
  • 10 minute guided stub and 3 * 5 minute un-guided, no dark frames or flats applied.
  • Average stack in MaximDL
  • Processed on an iPad (!) using Photoshop CS.

Cheers,
Simon.

Thanks Larry

I'm wondering if 20 minute exposures might be better, also still getting my head around the difference between LRGB exposures and one-shots. LRGBs seem to give far better outcomes but I don't know that those are possible on the QHY8...some research needed I think.

Here's two examples of post processing. Not sure if this is over-processed because the signal to noise seems to have increased!
