Toucam FPS settings - HELP!

Hi people. I seem to be having a problem with recording at different framerates using the Toucam + VRecord (it's probably something stupid which I forgot to do!)

I open up VRecord, change the video format to it's largest option (640x480) and then change all the settings i.e. white balance, saturation etc. For the next bit I am going by memory as this computer doesn't have VRecord installed. Once I have everything in focus, I select "set capture file" and give it a name. Now, at this point (if the seeing is good), i change the FPS (whilst in manual mode) to either 5 or 10. For viewing it works fine at 5 or 10 fps, however, when I capture an avi file, it for some reason changes back to 15 fps and records at that framerate. Does anyone know why it changes? What am I missing?

arrrghhhh hideous memories are being dredged up.

ditch vrecord and go the k3ccd demo, you have to renew the license key ever few months or use what i use and that is qfocus.

These two free programs retain the 640x480 settings and also make it easier to control. IE you can preview at say 10fps or higher to help with focus, but record at 5fps to get less compression etc

So VRecord can view at a number of framerates but can only record at 15 fps??

to be honest i can't remember if that is the exact case, but i do remember have a woeful time just like you with changing frame rates.

I did not bother to investigate it too much, I and others all moved to qfocus and k3ccd.

When you have your target in the preview box, goto capture - set frame rate - make sure use this frame rate box is ticked - click on the prefered capture rate, And thats it. Don't change the frame rate from the other place you did it from.

It will always default back to this frame rate after doing that.

You can also set a time limit from the same area. IE: if you want a 20 second capture time only.

Don't use vRecord, use k3ccdtools. It's far, far better. It automatically renames the capture files for you with each sequence.
