IPI 393 German equatorial mount

I have for sale, a IPI393 German Equatorial mount. This massive observatory mount was manufactured by Iott Precision Instruments. It is the precursor to the Planewave 200HR mount which currently sells new for more than $27,000, check out the following link: http://www.bintel.com.au/Mounts---Tr...oductview.aspx

Kevin Iott has a reputation for producing well engineered, high quality mounts and the IPI393 certainly demonstrates his genius. The mount features:
  • Massive 3" axes on both right ascension and declination axes, 100kg carrying capacity
  • 11.5" aeroquest gears on both axes, PE out of the box ~ 2 arc secs (http://www.aeroquest-machining.com/), driven by Pittman servo's through toothed belts
  • Sidereal technology controller II with attached handset, cabling, configuration software and ASCOM driver
  • 2* 15 KG S/S counterweights and 1 * 30KG S/S counterweight all on a massive stainless steel shaft which is almost a counterweight in its own right
  • Losmandy saddle
In addition to the servos (> 14,000,000 tics per complete rotation of the RA axis) it also has separate optical encoders on each axis. Note - these are relative, no absolute. Additional optical homing sensors on both axes allows the scope to be homed, however, I have not been able to get this feature working consistently. I do however, have replacement optical sensors which I have yet to fit.

Asking $6800 pickup only. This mount is very heavy and would be very expensive to ship.

Regarding the images:
  • The scope on the mount is a 10" Newtonian - not for sale
  • I've removed the covers from the worm drive so you can see the belts
  • I included one image with a tape measure for scale.
