now this is really tempting me, I can et this camera modded for $330.00. That makes for a cheap DSLR astrocamera with grunt!

You may get away with it but dont count on it....about 50% of my parcels arriving from overseas has been opened by customs.

Maybe. Let me pour a little cool water though.
It is in Hong Kong, and shipping is $89 or so. It will likely incur the wrath of the Customs dept as well, so may not be under the grand you suggest.
Latsly, the kit lens is adequate at best, but only just.
If you are going to mod it, it get it modded, buy one used on Astromart, and start from there.
