Centaurus A

Here's last night's effort - 16 useable 5-min exposures of Centaurus A. I'm pleased with this one :-)

Thats a very good shot Jon , you can really see the 3 dimention's of space with the milky way stars in the fore ground and Cent A in the distance behind them , great shot! .

Can I ask you how come all stars are white
It almost looks like they were added after the shot was taken

But the galaxie looks awesome

As the stars are point sources, they are easily over-exposed in the original images (and in any subsequent stacking, but this is presumably not stacked). There is also evidence of motion or tracking error in the slightly oval-shaped stars. Focus may also be an issue. These will usually cause the blobby effect.

The galaxy, as an extended source, is not as noticeably affected by these artifacts.

Not too shabby though, I'd be very happy with that! Well done.

Oh man I love this image. I love that there are stars in the foreground.

If I stare at the image too long I feel like I might fall in. Bravo.
