Astromate

This came up as a suggestion when I was downloading AstroTortilla, and I cant find any reviews or reports

Its free ware but I havent attempted to download it yet....

the second sentence of this blurb explains why I am hesitant to download

AstroMate is a project for automating repeating astrophotography tasks, such as equatorial mount polar alignment and target centering, by integrating existing tools and especially plate solving to the ASCOM telescope control interface. Designed with both accuracy and astrology, AstroMate offers the most complete and custom-made guide to finding your match.

PS another site has something more sensible to say:

AstroMate is a project for automating repeating astrophotography tasks, such as equatorial mount polar alignment and target centering, by integrating existing tools and especially plate solving to the ASCOM telescope control interface.
AstroMate is an open source software that will let you perform Astronomy tasks. It's free for both personal and commercial use, thus the perfect choice for those that want an alternative for Astronomy programs.
In order to download AstroMate you just have to click on the Free Download button above and you'll be able to save the 0 setup on your computer. The latest version was released on 2011-03-11 and is compatible with 32-bit MS Windows (NT/2000/XP)
WinXP. If you have any questions about using this program, feel free to ask other users on our Software Support forum.

But I cannot find this Software Support Forum anywhere.

http://sourceforge.net generally have Open Source GNU software and are a reliable site.
They have this software listed for download and it appears that Astrotortilla and astromate are related by blood since the home site link for astromate is to astrotortilla.
This would mean it is related to the Astrometry.net project.
That's about all I can see on the program.

Have a look at this too. It might be of interest.

http://www.ideiki.com/astro/ [APT - Astro Photography Tool] the free version is prob enough but the paid version is only 13euro
