Selling own creations (photos) online?

One of my mates creates 3D models and sells them online through this website.

http://www.turbosquid.com/

What you do is create a 3D model, upload it and set the price you think it's worth. Each item you sell a percentage goes to the website but that is all part of making money I guess!

What I wanted to know is does anyone know of any website like this but for photos?

Thanks!

You can sell photos on turbosquid as well but it's not really known for it. Maybe iStockPhoto? I think flickr had some sort of thing where you could sell your shots but I'm not sure. Shutterstock, but that might be just video, not sure.
A quick Google of "sell photos online" returns a few leads.

Yeh had a look before through Google. Wanted to ask on here as well if anyone has had any experience or knew a well known site.

I will keep researching, cheers!

Join the queue of wannabe photogs making a $$ or two. There are sites that take your pix and list them along with millions of others and If they sell an image or two you will get a few cents as part of the 'stock photo' collection. You need to upload many pics to these to make a return and they have to be good.
If you actually want to make money at it you (a) have to be darn good and recognised as a gun photog and (b) specialise in something that people want or is unique in some fashion. Ideally for those you have your own website.

I looked into this when I was doing Motorsports Pix ( you needed a connection with a Car magazine for that ) and when I was about to be made redundant and my employment options were rather limited.
With retirement a not too distant prospect I have refined my chosen direction now so hopefully it will keep me entertained, busy and make a few $$ in the long run.
It is not an easy path to $$ I can say.
(Fortunately I was offered my old job back via the outsourcing company so didn't lose too much, only 30% of my previous salary )
