Siding Spring Observatory Coonabarabran

How is it the Observatory survived the fires?

Is a question on many lips, some say shear luck and others speculate the conditions were just right in order that the flames lept over the mountain top.

In any case here is a few photographs I took last week.

Sadly many homes were lost and you can see one of these at the foot of the mountain on image 3 and cropped on image 4.

Roads through the Worrumbungles and up to the observatory still closed for the time being except for people working on the site.

Sparing a thought for those affected by the fires, I your hope life gets back to normality soon.

Best regards.

Carlos
