For sale astro physics 5 inch. I had thought it was a 130 but its not, thats the way it was sold to me.
I learned a lot about this scope after I met Mr Roland Christen and his lovely wife Marg at the AIC in the USA last oct/nov.
I thought it was a 130, it is in fact 127mm or 5 inch. It is a Christen triplet.
His reply to the photos was:
'I made that in my basement before I had a shop' he also noted 'it should be in a museum'
He also noted that the tube had been shortened. The focuser is also a later model AP2.7 focuser. Roland noted that 'the rings are original and the original focuser had the same rough finish, but you wouldnt have liked the original!'
Also he said that most of the scope he was aware of that age looked like they had been through a war or two.
I did ask them about the nasa glass.. Margs reply was 'people make such a big deal about the nasa glass, its nothing special.' Roland couldnt confirm precisely if it was the nasa glass but as he had the date of manufacture from the objective it was 'likely'.
Asking $3200 ono, now $3000 which is less than what I paid for it.
