Comet lemmon - across (or through ?) clouds (repro and video)

A month with sky covered by clouds and rains. Suddenly few minutes to shot. Time to shot Lemmon.

Photos with GSO 305 mm - Canon Rebel XT - iso 1600 - DSS - Photoshop

first photo: 6 x 1 min

second photo: single shot of 1 sec converted from RAW to JPG in Photoshop

third photo: 10 x 90 sec

Thanks, Larryp and anthony.

My 305 GSO was on a NEQ6-Pro, with sideral speed. Because the comet was very near the south, the polar alignment is well and the short time of exposition, I didn't use guiding by refractor 70 mm Vixen assembled with 305 GSO.

I used DSS to track comet position and stars, and Photoshop.

At the moment of work there were much thin clouds. So much of them, that with 25 mm and 9 mm ocular I only saw the comet with peripheral vision. No success to capture the tail.


It was done in a short time, before the clouds filled the sky and rains, again.

Lemmon - repro

Trying to do the method wrote by Rolf, but using DSS, I got this result. Unhappily the comet was not well aligned in center. But the effort was worth !

And a small video with all 18 photos that I got.
