Comet Lemmon 2 degree tail, fixed tripod

The night of the 3/4th of Feb had Comet Lemmon close to the south celestial pole so I decided to see if it was worth photographing without any tracking - just using the old fixed tripod. At 200mm f/3.5 on the EOS 600D and 20sec exposures it worked out fine.

Here are some shots using about 69 frames stacked in Registax based on the Comet. The first is of the whole frame (reduced size). The second is a stretched version depicting a 2 degree tail. And the third is a 100% crop.

Cheers,

Tom

Not bad for a fixed tripod Tom! I took advantage of the clear skies and tried the same thing last night. Will post the image when I finish processing it.

Cheers,
Stephen
