Coona /Pilliga Trip

Just got back from a great trip from Pilliga pottery /Coonabarabran,
My family along with rodstar & family , John & Anna( exstreme) plus a few drop inn's from the deep south star party ,spent a week under clear skies at Pilliga Pottery,it was a fantastic week with some great observing at a great venue.
I took delivery of my new scope SDM#68 28" f3.3 i still can't believe i have this scope, it perform as good as a slower scope , Mike lockwood has produce a mirror along with sips that produces no coma with exellent views, this combined with Peter Reeds legendary scope building ability & i'm left Gob smacked.
Anyone looking for a great road trip under black skies give Pilliga a look it has good facilities that cater for families & Maria is open to no light policies for observing , we are all going back next year & i'm already counting the days. http://pilligapottery.com.au.

photos of scope available on Peters website

Awesome Phil, I was there for my first time 3 weeks ago and it certainly won't be my last. I loved it, and as you say Maria was very obliging when I asked if we could turn the lights off. A fantastic place to setup a telescope and appreciate the night sky!

this is a link to my post on Pilliga a few weeks back http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=103548

best regards,

Carlos.
