William Optics focuser - removal

Has anyone had the pleasure of removing a William Optics DDG focuser from their OTA?

I am sourcing a new FeatherTouch FTF3035B-A and FeatherTouch FLT98 adaptor to replace the DDG focuser, and want to have the focuser removed before the arrival of the new one.

Is it simply a case of having someone hold the OTA and I unscrew the focuser from the housing or are there set screws as well?

Cheers
Sam

I removed my non-DDG WO Focuser from my FLT132 and it was just a threaded flange, no set screws. You will love the FeatherTouch!

Hello Sam.

I am investigating upgrading my FLT110 which has the DDG.

The way I have removed the focuser is :
1. Support the focuser body so it won't drop when released
2. Unscrew partially the 3 grub type screws that screw onto the flange
3. Unscrew partially the main locking screw on top that allows you to rotate.
4. Manually remove the focuser.
5. If necessary, unscrew the flange from the body (by hand)

Some photos below. It took me just a few minutes to do this and I found this a preferable way.

Good luck!
Darrin...

Fantastic guys!!!

Huge thanks for the photos Darrin! I am so surprised that there is so 'little' holding the focuser on....

I cannot wait to get the FeatherTouch with the Wireless MicroFocuser too. Going to make imaging through the night much more precise with less rejected photos.
