Thumbs up Adobe Photoshop CS2 give away

Just repeating this for those who missed it.

Adobe are giving away Photoshop CS2 for free.
All you need to do is create an account with them, then download it.
They have the serial numbers next to each download link.
Totally legit!!!

This is a great boon to those starting out in astro imaging.

Thanks to Nick Howes for the heads up on this.

Oh, there is a lot of traffic on the site right now, so be patient.

Thanks JJJ, Iam just getting into imaging and this will come in real handy to learn with

I have tried and tried to get GIMP to work on my Win 7 laptop without luck

So I have been using MS Photo Manager that comes with Windows, but it just doesn't cut it!

Thanks again

Have a serious look at the recent PaintShop Pro offerings - these can be found very cheaply - I got mine for 20gbp!
Does 99% of everything Photoshop does.....

Gavin, I am running windows 7 and had no trouble installing at all, and while I have still to give it a full workout everything seems to be functioning.

Fred,
Can you explain?
It does levels/ blending/ layers/ RGB balancing etc....surely not an "Epic failure" for 1/10 the price???

Hi Wade

What are you talking about exactly, GIMP or Photoshop?

I have tried GIMP 2.6 and 2.8 without luck, won't even get past the initial loading box which comes up at the beginning.

Not sure what is going on with it. I haven't tried Photoshop yet.

Gavin

Not sure what is going on with it then Laurie. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times without luck. Must be some kind of hardware or software incompatability.

I have pretty much given up on it!

Sorry Gavin-can't offer any solutions for you. I just know it should work. Mines even installed with Win 7 64bit

Gavin, I have installed Photoshop CS2 on Windows 7 along with the supplied serial number. All good.

However, just now on checking the Adobe site I found this message up. It wasn't there when I did my download. I wonder if it has anything to do with your problem?

Adobe has disabled the activation server for CS2 products, including Acrobat 7, because of a technical issue. These products were released more than seven years ago, do not run on many modern operating systems, and are no longer supported.

Gavin I managed to get it installed OK on my new Laptop running Windows 8 64 bit. Make sure you read and follow the installation instructions in the PDF file on the Adobe website.

Thanks for the heads-up on this jjjnettie - now I just have to learn how to use it.

G'day Everyone

Thanks for the advice, but I think that there is a bit of a mix up in understandings about my post.

Photoshop is not the problem it is the GIMP software which is a free alternative to Photoshop. My first post simple said thanks to jjj because I can't get GIMP to work and this would be a good alternative (ie CS2). Hope this clears this up!

Gavin
