M42 Using Layers

Hi all, I would like to share with you my first attempt at M42 using layers to keep the core from blowing out. The image comprises of the following

The core image is made up from 26 x 10 sec subs layered with 22 x 20 sec subs. (all at ISO 1600 flats and darks used)

The core image was then layered with 25 x 120 sec subs (all at ISO 1600 flats and darks used)

Any feedback in general and on how I can get the night sky darker and smoother would be great, I think maybe some 800 are 400 ISO shots may help but not sure.

Thanks for looking

Carl
