Pelican Silhouettes

Hi all.

Here's a couple of shots from yesterday afternoon, taken at Long Jetty on the Central Coast of NSW.

Handheld, 350D + 75-300mm lens, f/22, ISO100, 1/100s exposure. First attachment is 300mm FL, second is 220mm.

Thanks for looking.

i can't make out the details on the birds.

Mike, these silhouettes thingies need light at the front to make the birds stand out so we can see them.

Nice work

Mike I still cant see the pelicans or are they budgies...I cant tell...their too dark....Oh I see there Native pelicans that come from the Tribal community of Long Jetty.

Oh and Mike the glare is overeposed...next time take shorter exposure and blend it over the top.....lol

Would have been better with the "L" series 17-40 lense but we wont go there.

Otherwise.....some terrific photo's.

P.S borders look level..."Almost"

Hi Mike

Those are very eye-catching photos of these majestic birds. Is the sepia finish a natural artifact from the low backlighting, or did you use a filter or processing?

Beautiful photos either way; they are very nicely composed and presented.

Cheers

Dennis

You guys are all comedians

Thanks for the comments.

Dennis, no filters were used. The sepia look was mainly a result of the processing I applied. I used "RawShooterEssentials" to process the RAW file, which included adjusting the colour temperature to give that colouration, and the shadow contrast and highlight contrast were adjusted to give the silhouette. In the original shot, the birds weren't a complete silhouette.

Thanks
