First jupiter from Rockhampton

I've brought back a harddisk full of images, nearly 200Gb all up. It will take a while to sort through it and find the small number of good quality runs - I had a lot of cloud and bad seeing, but a couple of nights were quite good.

Here's the first finished image - there should be more over the next few days...

ps I know there are some odd artifacts around the edge of the planet, I'm experimenting with image rotation so I can stack more frames :-)

cheers, Bird

Hey Bird!

Welcome back mate.

Glad you managed to get some imaging done. We were all keeping a close eye on the conditions up there and hoping things were going OK.

Nice image. Looking forward to more.

That's a great first run! Loads of fine detail and great colour.

Hey Hey, back bird. Great start. Sorry about the weather, but I think you went too far north this year.

Check out some of Dennis' and Robert_T's and allan goulds (to name just a few) Jupiters from the past few weeks in Brisvegas.

You didn't happen to bump into Rowena while you were up there did you?

that white mass in the NEB looks real interesting.

it wasn't there on the 26th. I assume i am roughly in the same area.

Boy that image scale really smack your eyes hard... the detail in the bands is great as always with your shots, but there's a hell of a lot going on in the equatorial zones too. Lovely stuff

Looking forward to seeing the shots from 200Gb analysed. With the hard drive on my laptop I have about 1 Gb free at most, so I started to be ruthless with what I had on it and freed up another 1Gb and thats it. I have a 60 Gb portable drive so I think I can slowly get some space free.
Anyway, great shot with nice detail. Keep raising the bar as it only makes others get better.
