Hi from another beginner

Good morning all,

Well, I have been lurking for some time and decided it was timely to join the IIS community.

I have been interested in astronomy for several years starting with binoculars, then a 10-inch Dobsonian telescope but I found the solid tube a bit hard to transport with my small car, so I sold it some time ago and reverted back to binoculars. Besides, work and travel got in the way and I never had much time for observing. I recently took delivery of an old, homemade 17.5-inch Dobsonian from a family member but it needs some work. My knowledge is limited but I hope to learn more, especially on my newly acquired Canon 350D. I want to start with some tripod imaging soon and build up my knowledge base from there. I don't have a large desire to jump into imaging just yet.

Anyway that's all for now. Look forward to learning more and bugging you all with my questions.

Regards,
John

Hi John and welcome back, its an amazing hobby (a bit like a virus) once it get in your blood it can lie dormant for years and then suddenly burst out, usually this coincides with a time in your life when there is some spare cash in your wallet.

Time to get that 350D out and show us some pics of the big dob.
